Maya Angelou, through her powerful writings, has inspired generations of women, African-Americans and all people who struggle to overcome prejudice, discrimination and abuse.Throughout her life, Angelou has defied social norms. After being raped by her mother's boyfriend, she withdrew and was mute for five years.
However, encouraged by her grandmother, who introduced her to literature, she gradually emerged as a talented artist. Her diverse career includes being the first black streetcar conductor in San Francisco. Ms. Angelou is graced with a host of other accomplishments.

This woman overcame her personal battle with the help of her grandmother. Through this encouragement Ms. Angelou's received from a woman of legacy (her grandmother) she was given hope to speak again and not only to speak again but this would turn out to be what she would do for a living. The giving of herself through her writings led her to her very own success. She Dared To Dream!! Let's look deeper and dare to dream as Ms. Angelou did. Victory isn't just for those who seek it, but also for those who dream it and then speak it.
